Winchester 190

Name: 190
Manufacture: Winchester Repeating Arms, New Haven, CT
Caliber: .22lr
Action: Semiauto
Notes: In the museum collection.  The museum's first restoration project, she was purchased sight unseen from Gunbroker.com.  Without a doubt the worst condition I have ever seen a firearm in. The rifling was shot out.  There were two paperclips being used as pins in the trigger assembly.  The cocking handle was missing.  The forestock had two deep burn marks.  I'm not sure the gun had ever been cleaned.  Ultimately we had to place a new barrel on her, have the receiver Cerakoted Gloss Black (originally they were painted) and ordered several missing parts from Numrich. The steel inner magazine tube assembly were replaced with a brass assembly. The stocks were refinished in a gloss polyurethane; we left the burn marks in the forearm as an homage to her heritage. We paid $100.00 for her and it was $600.00 too much; she handles and shoots well now.
