Marlin 39A

Name: 39A

Manufacturer: Marlin Firearms Company, North Haven, CT

Caliber: .22lr, .22 Long, .22 Short

Action: Lever

Notes: In the museum collection.  She was aquired from Hyatt Gun in Charlotte, NC.  The 39A is descended of a great line of lever action .22's from Marlin; it's design can be traced back to the Marlin 1892 and Marlin 39.  The 39A is thought to be the finest lever action .22 made. This rifle was manufactured in 1951 and predates Marlins microgroove rifling. The 39A is touted as being the longest firearm in continous production, although at this time Ruger has acquired Marlin from the bankruptcy of Remington.  It is hoped that Ruger will bring back the venerable 39A.
